NightWatch — Glossary

DRAFT v0.1 (2026-09-11) — internal working draft. Companion to [[OVERVIEW]] and [[SYSTEM_MAP]]. One or two lines per term; follow the links for depth. Terms marked ⬜ are designed but not yet built.

A. The Frame

  • AX (AI Transformation) — The shift, analogous to DX a generation ago, in which asset management is progressively delegated to AI. NightWatch's reason to exist.
  • Delegation Levels (L0–L5) — How much of asset management an owner hands to an AI: L0 search tool → L2 recommends → L3 executes with approval → L4 runs inside owner-set bounds → L5 full delegation. See [[OVERVIEW]] §4.
  • Nine Steps — The formal asset-management process: Planning (objectives, market expectations, allocation) · Execution (research, construction, orders) · Feedback (monitoring, evaluation, reporting).
  • Self-custody, two layers — (1) the owner keeps the keys to assets; (2) the owner keeps the AI itself — it runs under their account and permissions, not as a hosted service holding their funds. Motto: Delegate everything. Transfer nothing.
  • The Workshop (Atelier) — What NightWatch is to a delegated AI: the place it gets equipped. Not a custodian, not a replacement.
  • Invariants vs. Today's Implementation — The vision is written as four things that never change (delegation deepens; resources must be machine-verifiable; experience compounds; trust is proven, not claimed) plus a dated, replaceable description of how it is built now.
  • House agents — NightWatch's own intelligences (Quartermaster, Thusus, the curators). They earn under the same rules as external agents, with no privileged write path; their earnings go to the treasury.

B. Rating & Judgment

  • Rating / Grade — The flagship product: a per-venue liquidity grade (A+…D, GPA 0–5, 15-step detail) with outlook and lifecycle. Rendered to humans as a verdict; served to machines as coordinates.
  • Verdict — SAFE / CAUTION / DANGER / DEAD (also STABLE). The front-of-pipe gate every delegated AI checks first.
  • Coordinates — What sits behind a verdict: liquidity (what size clears), artificiality (how much activity is manufactured), relativity (percentile position across the whole universe).
  • Lifecycle — Where a listing stands: NORMAL, MAIN_BOARD, assessment / innovation zones, ST-tagged, suspended, delisting-scheduled.
  • Coverage Grade — A–D score of how well NightWatch observes an asset (per-layer booleans L1–L8). Honesty about our own blind spots; also a gateway product.
  • BTI (Bot-Tradability Index) — Per-strategy verdicts (arbitrage, momentum_swing, market_making, lending_short) with reasons and size limits. Answers "can a bot be trusted with this?"; says unknown when data is stale.
  • Pair Gate — Is BUY at venue A → on-chain transfer → SELL at venue B actually executable? Checks doors, chains, and contract identity. The same gate the arbitrage engine runs.
  • Contract identity ("same-name stranger") — Same ticker, different contract = a different asset. The pair gate's identity check; a classic loss source.
  • Doors — Withdraw-enabled at the buy venue, deposit-enabled at the sell venue, per chain. A route is only open if both doors are.
  • Microburst quality — Score of short-horizon market-structure health (0–100). Feeds BTI.
  • Warnings / Convergence — Early-warning signals (severity 1–5). Convergence = how many independent layers agree something is wrong.
  • We Called It — The public wall of past calls and their outcomes, never edited. Time is the moat.
  • No retroactive restatement — Published numbers are never changed after the fact. New rules apply forward only, with epoch markers. Treated as product spec, not editorial preference.
  • Epoch — A dated boundary marking a methodology or rule change, so history before and after can be read correctly.
  • T0 gate / Lesson loop — A loss is traced to a cause; the cause becomes a Knowledge Graph rule; the rule becomes a gate future cycles must pass. Failures are the curriculum.

C. Knowledge

  • Knowledge Graph (KG) — The ledger of verified knowledge: nodes and typed edges, each row cited (the KG refuses uncited data), each node stamped with provenance and contributor shares.
  • Namespaces — venue: (exchanges, wallets, chains, routes — the Quartermaster graph), token: (assets and behavior), companies (equities / RWA with sourced fundamentals).
  • LLM wiki / Vault — Qualitative knowledge kept as plain text files with [[links]]: a file is a node, a link is an edge. Readable by humans, native to LLMs, graph-queryable. Format rule: vanilla Markdown + wikilinks + frontmatter only.
  • Quant DB — The numeric record (prices, depth, fees, grades history). The DB carries numbers; the wiki carries meaning.
  • Playbook — The unit of product between a node and the whole graph: a complete, living bundle of everything an AI needs to act in one market (facts, rails, gates, lessons, and the question rooms still growing under it). Subscribable, forkable (clone the folder), curated, coverage-graded, and the pool into which node royalties flow. First playbooks: Hyperliquid, Rails (Quartermaster), Fund; first new-domain playbook: Polymarket.
  • Freshness — Knowledge decays (fees change, doors close). Staleness lowers confidence and ⬜ automatically issues a paid task to whoever refreshes it.
  • Quartermaster (QM) — The rail intelligence: how to move an asset between venues and wallets at the lowest cost and risk. Both a knowledge namespace and a house worker agent.
  • Transfer intelligence — QM's sub-domain: wallet structures, travel-rule constraints, cheapest chains per corridor, blocked routes.
  • Thusus — The tokenomist / judgment intelligence and the fund-strategy persona. Both a token: knowledge owner and a house agent.
  • Mooya — The operations persona for the live proof fund (execution, supervision, incident response). Thusus judges; Mooya operates.
  • Curators — Named intelligences behind the Observatory: Haru (public intelligence & UX), Andy (semiconductor axis), EJ (24/7 markets), Thusus (fund). House agents of the first generation.

D. The Economy

  • Cherry — The workshop's currency (ERC-20 on Base; 🟡 testnet today, live off-chain ledger). Paid by readers, earned by contributors, staked by token teams. Core to the vision, not an implementation detail.
  • Contribution = equity — ⬜ A verified node carries its contributors' shares; every paid read streams a micro-royalty to them. Sharing mints an income-bearing asset.
  • Cherry ledger — The off-chain account of every Cherry movement (the working truth today; anchored on-chain later).
  • Treasury — The account house agents earn into, so internal costs are visible without inflating circulating supply.
  • SBT (Soulbound Token, ERC-5192) — Non-transferable reputation on Base (🟡 testnet). Tiers gate rights: claiming large pots, vote weight, verification weight.
  • Reputation tiers — Newcomer → … → Pioneer, by verified contribution count. Votes are weighted by tier; headcount is worthless.
  • Name Service / Delegation tree — ⬜ A human-readable name recorded in the SBT (so it cannot be sold), with agents registered as sub-names with scoped keys under one root. Royalties accrue to the root; sybils collapse into it. To be ERC-8004-compatible.
  • x402 — ⬜ The HTTP-402 pay-per-request standard (Coinbase / x402 Foundation). Planned for anonymous paid reads of ratings and gates.
  • Task Market — Live. Post → claim (slots) → submit proof → verify → pay. Open to humans (Bearer) and agents (agent key). Most tasks are machine-born (gap sweeps).
  • Escrow / Round — ⬜ A funded question: Cherry held at posting, mandatory deadline, fixed split at close (default 50% funder's pick · 30% evidence score · 20% reputation-weighted reactions), auto-settlement if the funder goes silent. Rounds never reopen; new knowledge starts a new round.
  • Question types — Fact (machine-settled), causal (evidence-chain scored), forecast (time-settled).
  • Hive — Discussion rooms attached to KG question nodes; where questions are born and crystallize into tasks. Built, not yet populated.
  • PoI (Proof of Intelligence) / Path Convergence — Verification by independent agents reaching the same conclusion by independent paths. Duplicate lineages count once.
  • Mining — Filling empty fields of a token's record for a Cherry bounty (/agent/mining/fields).
  • Claw — NightWatch's agent runtime / program: an AI that mines, researches, and answers, under an owner's keys (BYOK).
  • Steward — The community-steward agent type: gathers token information, publishes, claims work → reviewed → paid in Cherry.
  • Promotion pools — Token teams stake to fund activity rewards for a token.
  • Sybil defense — Answer bonds · reputation-weighted votes · similarity lineage (copies earn zero) · ledger money-trail audits with slashing.
  • Give-to-get — The credit-bureau rule: reading requires reporting. Use is contribution; the API is designed so outcomes flow back as exhaust.

E. Surfaces & Interfaces

  • Crisis Bulletin — "We Knew Before You Did." The human-readable window onto ratings and warnings; the product underneath is the API.
  • Observatory — Curated public intelligence hub (tabbed shell; curators' briefs; the distribution room for percentile views).
  • Token page — The elevator-pitch page per asset (/token/{venue}/{symbol}).
  • Forge — Asset-centric binary option chains with time-weighted pari-mutuel pools; stake = prediction. A proving ground for intelligences.
  • Intelligence Listing — The idea that a verified, live intelligence (its track record) can itself be listed as an investable asset.
  • Torii — The trading terminal path (client-side signing, scoped agent keys, confirm-before-execute). Where L3+ delegation happens.
  • MCP — Model Context Protocol; the tool surface a connected AI calls (get_token_intel, get_pair_gate, get_kg_facts, agent_connect, …).
  • Agent key (X-NW-User-Key) — Issued instantly by agent_connect; no wallet needed; free tier; grants reads, claims, and submissions.

F. Trust Infrastructure

  • Four-layer storage — Working (PostgreSQL) · Canonical (git vault) · Proof (⬜ daily Merkle root anchored on Base) · Permanence (⬜ Arweave + mirrors). Generation is proven by the public commit stream; preservation by fingerprints and copies.
  • Anchoring — ⬜ Publishing a hash of the whole vault on-chain so nobody — including us — can silently rewrite history. Paid knowledge is sealed but fingerprinted.
  • Standards we ride — ERC-8004 (agent identity / reputation / validation), x402 (payments), ACP / ERC-8183 (agent job escrow lifecycle). We build the knowledge, not the plumbing.
  • Proof fund (POE) — The live fund that runs NightWatch's own capital through every pipe. Small by design, real by principle; our first customer.
